Claire Randall and her husband Frank return to Scotland for a second honeymoon six months after WWII ends. They haven’t seen each other in 5 years, with Claire having served as a front-line nurse, and this is a chance for them to reconnect. They visit the ruins of Castle Leoch as Frank is studying his own family history. Frank is overjoyed when he discovers letters mentioning his 18th century ancestor, Black Jack Randall, a British army officer who served in the area, with the help of a local pastor. Claire is taken back to 1743 when she walks off on her own and investigates the place where they had observed Druid worshipers. There she meets Frank’s ancestor as well as Jamie, a lovely young Scot.
